The crimes reported here are preliminary investigations, taken in the field by patrol officers, and may or may not be assigned to a Detective for further investigation. The information provided may be found after further investigation to be incorrect or false. Certain details of these incidents have been removed due to potential follow up investigation into the incident and/or for privacy rights.
The following incidents occurred between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020.
20-050705 (Pursuit - Arrest): Marysville Boulevard and Arcade Boulevard at 0318 hours.
Officers attempted an enforcement stop on a reckless driver. The driver failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The suspect collided with a parked vehicle and fled on foot. A perimeter was established, and the suspect was located within the perimeter. The suspect was arrested and booked at Main Jail.
20-051023 (Battery - Arrest): 6500 block of Q Street at 1246 hours.
Officers responded to a report of a battery. Officers located the suspect in the area, who was exhibiting signs of being under the influence of a narcotic. When officers detained the suspect, he began to resist officers. Officers were eventually able to handcuff the suspect and, he was arrested. The suspect, and an officer, sustained minor abrasions. The suspect was taken to a hospital to receive medial attention due to his intoxicated state.
20-050729 (ShotSpotter - Investigation): South Sacramento at 0444 hours.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation. Officers arrived on scene and found no victims. Officers located evidence on scene and generated a crime report.
20-051156 (Felony Assault - Arrrest): Poncia Court at 1516 hours.
Officers responded to a report of a felony assault. The victim sustained a minor injury, in the arm, from the suspect. The suspect was located later in the day and arrested.
20-051502 (Fatal Collision - Investigation): Kenworthy Way and 24th Street at 2118 hours.
Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision. Officers arrived on scene and located the pedestrian who had sustained life-threatening-injuries. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and later succumbed to their injuries. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation. DUI and speed are not a factor in this collision. SPD’s Major Collisions Investigations Unit responded and took over the investigation.
