The Sacramento Police Department is partnering with the California Highway Patrol in a collaborative effort to reduce gang activity, robbery, and burglary rates in the city of Sacramento.
Beginning Thursday, February 12, 2009, sixteen CHP Officers and two CHP Sergeants will be assigned to assist Sacramento Police Department Problem Oriented Police Officers and detectives in an effort to deter criminal activity in south Sacramento.
The partnership is expected to be a long-term effort where CHP Officers will work hand-in-hand with Sacramento Police officers throughout the city. Areas of deployment will vary depending on current crime trends or crime series that have been identified.
This is one example of the many cooperative efforts the Sacramento Police Department has had with the California Highway Patrol. “During these tough economic times, the Police Department appreciates the regional partnerships which help to make our city safer,” said Sacramento Police Deputy Chief Louie.
