The Sacramento Police Department arrested Chu Vue for the murder of Steve Lo. Also arrested for the murder of Steve Lo were Lang Vue, Gary Vue, and Chong Vue. The following individuals were arrested for harboring fugitives: Mason Vue, Lee Vue, Allysa Vue, and Khou Vue.
On Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at 4:59 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department received a call regarding a shooting that occurred in the 8400 block of Tambor Way. Officers located a male victim lying in his garage who had been shot. The victim, 39-year-old Steve Lo, was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to the scene. Steve Lo appeared to be preparing to leave for work when he was shot. Mr. Lo was employed as a Correctional Officer with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He had been an Officer for approximately three years and was assigned to the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, Ca. Mr. Lo was in full uniform at the time he was killed.
On October 15, 2008, detectives served a search warrant at Chu Vue's house. During the ongoing homicide investigation, Vue was arrested for possessing an unregistered illegal assault rifle (12280 Penal Code) and for computer access violations (502 c 1 and 502 c 2 Penal Code).
On March 2, 2009, Chu Vue's brothers, Chong and Gary Vue were arrested in Minnesota for an unrelated homicide. Sacramento Police Department detectives went out to Minnesota that day to conduct follow up on the Steve Lo homicide.
Homicide investigators continued to work diligently on the case and believe the following occurred:
*In March 2006, Gary and Chong Vue were charged with a homicide that occurred in Minnesota in 2001
*In April 2007, Chu Vue puts a manufactured home in Corning, California which was placed in his friend's name, Khou Vue. It is believed the sole purpose of this property was to hide his brothers.
*In July 2008, Chu Vue discovered that his wife was having an affair with Steve Lo.
*Chu Vue began to run Steve Lo's name and later had Steve Lo's vehicle license plate number ran on work computers
*Investigators determined that Chu Vue, his brothers, and other associates had obtained cell phones under ficticious names and used these phones to communicate to one another
*Lang Vue (Chu Vue's friends) rented cars and motels for Gary and Chong Vue. It is believed that Lang Vue purchased the vehicle used by the suspects on the day of the homicide.
*Allysa Vue (Chu Vue's sister) also is found to have rented a motel in Sacramento that is believed to have been used by Gary and Chong Vue a couple of weeks prior to the homicide.
*Investigators believe that Gary and Chong Vue were in Corning prior to the homcide, had come into Sacramento weeks before the homicide, were in Sacramento during the time of the homcide, and immediately after the homicide had gone back to Croning. Investigators further believe Gary and Chong Vue came back to Sacramento at a later date for a couple of days before heading to Minnesota.
*Mason Vue and Lee Vue (both borthers of Lang vue) assisted in harboring Chong and Gary Vue knowing that they were wanted in Minnesota.
*The investigation has led Detectives to believe that Gary and Chong Vue committed the murder of Steve Lo at the direction of their older brother, Chu Vue.
Based on all the information obtained by detectives the case was submitted to the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office for review and arrest warrants were issued by the Sacramento Superior Courts.
On Thursday, March 26, 2009, at 8:35 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department's Career Criminal Apprehension Team arrested Chu Vue, 44, for the murder of Steve Lo. Chu Vue was arrested near his house in Elk Grove, California without incident.
Lang Vue, 26, Mason Vue, 22, and Lee Vue, 27 were all arrested at or near their address in the 7800 block of Camrose Way.
Khou Vue, 32, was arrested near her home in the 4200 block of Armadale Way.
Allysa Vue, 27, was arrested at her home in the 7400 block of Poirier Way.
