The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a fatal collision that occurred at Gloria Drive near Woodshire Way.
On Friday, April 17, 2009, at 7:22 a.m., the Sacramento Police and Fire Department responded to the call of a traffic accident involving a pedestrian, a Lexus SUV, and a Toyota Camry. An off duty fire fighter captain was headed to work when he drove upon the accident and began to immediately provide CPR to the pedestrian. The pedestrian died at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. The victim is described as a male Asian approximately 50-60 years old.
Traffic investigators were called out to the scene. Based on the preliminary investigation, the Lexus SUV was driving eastbound on 43rd Avenue, just passing Woodshire Way with the Toyota Camry following behind. The driver of the SUV heard and felt an impact and stopped immediately. The Camry rear-ended the SUV. It is unknown at this time where the pedestrian was, or his direction of travel when he was hit by the SUV.
The street at 43rd Avenue between Gloria Drive and Woodshire Way will be closed for investigators until approximately 10:30 a.m.
