Police Looking for Man Wanted for Carjacking

The Sacramento Police Department is looking for 21-year-old Guy Azama for carjacking a police car, assault on a police officer, and carrying a concealed firearm.

On Friday, May 8, 2009, at 3:58 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the Chevron Gas Station at 7901 College Town Drive regarding a male and female arguing near a gray Chevrolet Malibu.

An officer arrived and began speaking to Guy Azama, near the gas pumps.  The Officer felt a handgun in Azama's pants pocket while searching him for weapons.  During the search, Azama turned on the officer and began assaulting him.  While struggling with the officer, Azama broke free, jumped into the Officer's patrol car, and fled onto La Riviera Dr towards Howe Ave. As additional officers arrived, Azama abandoned the patrol car in the area of the La Riviera on-ramp to northbound Howe Avenue and double-backed to the awaiting Chevrolet Malibu. Azama and his girlfriend fled westbound College Town Drive.  The Chevy Malibu has since been located. Officers found a loaded handgun lying on the street several hundred feet in the direction that Azama had fled. Detectives were able to identify Guy Azama with the help of the community and are now seeking the communities help again in locating him for the above mentioned crimes.

The Sacramento Police Department urges anyone with information pertaining to this crime to contact Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP or text  a tip to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
