On Thursday, May 28, 2009, the victim of a shooting that occurred Sunday died from his injuries at U.C. Davis Medical Center.
On Sunday, May 24, 2009, at 8:24 p.m., Officers responded to the 3700 block of 18th Avenue regarding the sounds of gun shots. Officers received information that someone had been shot and was put into a vehicle that left the area. We received notification that the victim had been dropped off at U.C. Davis Medical Center by a friend. The victim had been shot multiple times and was in critical condition. The victim died from his injuries on May 28.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to take over the investigation. Investigators believe that the victim was at a party on the 3700 block of 18th Avenue when he got into a dispute. The victim was shot multiple times when the dispute escalated. The victim was a male Hispanic 20-years-old.
The investigation is on-going and no further information is being provided at this time.
