The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the murder of 40 year-old Shawn Chaney who was died yesterday as a result of complications from injuries he received when he was shot in 2002.
On Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at 2:38 p.m., Shawn Chaney was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by his friend. A vehicle, described as being a silver Ford Taurus 4-door, drove up quickly behind the victims and pulled next to their car. The passenger in the Ford Taurus shot numerous times at the victims. The suspects are described as male blacks and the passenger was wearing a black ski mask. Both victims were hit by the gun fire and drove themselves to the U.C. Davis Medical Center. Chaney and his friend both survived their injuries, but Chaney ended up being a quadriplegic from the shooting.
On, May 29, 2009, Shawn Chaney died as a result of complications from his injuries received in 2002.
