Before you get behind the wheel while intoxicated please ask yourself, where do you want to spend your 4th of July weekend...with family and friends, or in a drunk tank at the Sacramento County Jail?
The Sacramento Police Department, in conjunction with the Office of Traffic Safety will be conducting several DUI operations this holiday weekend. A sobriety and drivers license checkpoint will occur on July 3. We will also be conducting extra DUI patrols throughout the City of Sacramento, Friday through Sunday.
The Sacramento Police Department does not want you spending your holiday weekend in jail for drunk driving. We are reminding the community to not drink and drive.
The purpose of these operations is to promote public safety, increase awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving, and to serve as a deterrent to potential impaired and unlicensed drivers.
Funding for these programs was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Please direct any inquiries to Sergeant David Hargadon at (916) 808-6069. Media is encouraged to attend the checkpoint in an effort to spread awareness about the impacts of drinking and driving.
