The Sacramento Police Department has partnered with KCRA -TV and Volunteers of America to fulfill the mission of Operation Backpack.  Operation Backpack is designed to get backpacks and school supplies to support and encourage education for children in need. 

The Sacramento Police Department has once again come together to support a wonderful cause.  "I am proud that members of our Department continue to go above and beyond to help our community," said Chief Rick Braziel. 

On Friday, July 24, 2009, KCRA-TV along with Volunteers of America will be having a major event to collect school supplies and backpacks from 4:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cal Expo's main gate.  The Sacramento Police Department will be making our drop off at this event and encourage others in our community to donate as well.
