With the new school year kicking off, the Sacramento Police Department's Traffic Unit is focusing on helping kids get to school safely. Motor units will be conducting increased enforcement on people driving in the vicinity of schools throughout the city.
The Traffic Unit will be watching area schools for speeders, cell phone users, stop sign and red light violators. These vehicle violations are hazards to children who are walking or riding bikes to school. The Police Department would like to remind parents, student drivers, and commuters to pay special attention to their surroundings when driving near all schools. We would like to further remind drivers traveling in both directions of traffic to stop for school busses with stop signs displayed and/or red lights flashing.
The police need your help to get our kids to school safely.
