On Wednesday, September 02, 2009, a 49-year-old female was struck by a Greyhound bus on L St between 7th and 8th Streets.
At 12:51 p.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of 7th St and L St regarding a vehicle collision involving a Greyhound Bus and a pedestrian. When officers arrived, the victim was being treated by the Sacramento Fire Department. She was transported to the UC Davis Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
The Sacramento Police Department's Major Collision Unit responded and took over the investigation. Investigators believe that the bus driver was exiting the terminal, making a right turn onto L St. A female pedestrian was crossing 7th St, southbound, mid block on L St., outside the crosswalk. The driver's view of the pedestrian was blocked by at least one other vehicle in the roadway. Once that vehicle moved, the bus driver proceeded to make his turn, striking the female.
