On Sunday, August 23, 2009, the Sacramento Police Department responded to Lisbon Elementary School (7555 South Land Park Drive) in the Pocket area regarding a burglary.  Officers determined that the school had been broken into and several cans of spray paint were stolen.  The thieves used the stolen paint to vandalize (graffiti) multiple homes in the area near the school. 

A witness contacted District 7 Councilman Robbie Waters and provided information about the crimes.  That information was given to the Sacramento Police Department's POP Team (Problem Oriented Policing).  The POP Team is a group of officers that work closely with community members and organizations to find solutions to neighborhood problems.

Based on the information provided, officers were able to link 6 juveniles to the crimes.  Five of the six juveniles were between the ages of 12 and 15 years-old; they were arrested for burglary and felony vandalism.  One juvenile was 10-years-old; he was not arrested.

This is another example of the great partnerships that exist between the Police Department, city leaders, and the community.  All three had an integral part in solving this crime spree.
