The Sacramento Police Department arrested two people in connection with the murder of 44-year-old Keith Fessler.
On Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at 1:28 p.m., the Sacramento Fire Department responded to the 7400 block of Carella Way on a structure fire. After extinguishing the fire, fire fighters located a dead body and contacted law enforcement. The Sacramento Police Department's homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to the scene. The Sacramento Fire Department's Arson Investigators also responded to assist.
The investigation revealed that Keith Fessler was killed during a burglary attempt. The suspects stole Fessler's car, a burnt orange Honda Element, from the residence and later set it on fire near 68th Avenue and Tamoshanter Way. The suspects also stole some unique guitars and wind surfing boards. Based on media exposure of the stolen guitars, detectives received a tip on the location of the guitars and the subjects who attempted to sell them. Based on this lead, detectives were able to identify 28-year-old Ronnie Vang and 23-year-old Joson Vang as being involved in the murder of Keith Fessler. Statements, physical and forensic evidence led detectives to be able to charge the two suspects for murder.
Since July 17, 2009, Ronnie Vang has been in custody for methamphetamine for sale and parole violation charges. Joson Vang has been in custody since July 22, 2009 on various warrants. Today, September 17, 2009 both suspects were charged with murder for the killing of Keith Fessler.
