Sacramento Police Officer John Azevedo and his K-9 partner Blitz has won the Top Dog award in the Western States Police K-9 competitions.  This is the third year in a row that Officer Azevedo and K-9 Blitz earned the Top K9 Competitor Award.  

Officer John Azevedo partnered with Officer Steve Thomson to also win the 2009 K9 Team award. 

The trials used to select the awards consisted of many different competitive phases such as protection, obedience, agility, and searching.   Officer Steve Thomson and his K-9 partner Crash are in their first year of competing.  Officer John Azevedo and his K-9 partner Blitz have been competing since 2007. 

The Sacramento Police Department is proud to have one of the best K-9 units in the region.
