On Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 11:05 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department received reports of shots fired in the area of 32nd Street and 16th Avenue. A few minutes later, at 11:17 p.m., a call came in advising that a body was located on the front lawn of a residence in the 4000 block of 32nd Street. Officers responded and located the victim, a 35-year-old man, lying on the ground. The victim was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to investigate. Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that led up to this murder.
Detectives received information that a loud party was occurring in the same area as the shots fired report; however it is unknown if the party is related to the shooting. The victim's name is not being released at this time pending notification to the next of kin.
