On November 19, 2009 at 4:00 p.m., the Bishop Francis Quinn Cottages Organization will hold their bi-annual graduation ceremony, located at 1500 North A St. in Sacramento. The ceremony will include honoring two Sacramento Police Officers, Mark Zoulas and Michael Cooper, who work daily with the homeless community.
The cottages are a 60 unit transitional housing program available to homeless individuals. Twice each year, the organization recognizes those individuals who have successfully completed the program in the previous six months. Successful completion includes finding secure housing, stable income and ability to maintain sobriety. These same individuals chose to honor the officers for their service to the homeless community.
Officer Mark Zoulas, a 28-year veteran of the Sacramento Police Department, began problem oriented policing in the downtown area in January 2000. Officer Mike Cooper, a 19-year veteran of the Sacramento Police Department, has worked with Officer Zoulas and the homeless, since 2003.
The Sacramento Police Department is proud of the hard work, compassion and dedication these two officers show each day they come to work.
Media is encouraged to attend. Please direct any inquiries to Sergeant Norm Leong at (916) 808-0808.
