On Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at 1:03 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 2200 block of 18th Avenue regarding a shooting. Officers arrived and located two male victims with gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel responded and pronounced both men dead at the scene. The victims' identities are being withheld at this time pending further investigation and next-of-kin notification. One victim was in his 50's, the other in his 60's.
The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to investigate. Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that led up to this murder. Thus far, the investigation revealed that a male suspect forced entry into the residence. The suspect then shot the two victims. Two other adults were inside the residence at the time of the homicide and were unharmed. A motive for this crime has yet to be determined.
