The Sacramento Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that resulted in the death of a teenager.
On January 3, 2010, at 1:21 a.m., officers responded to Nedra Court near 24th Street on the report of gun shots being heard. Upon arrival, officers located a 15-year-old female who had been shot while inside her home. The Sacramento Fire Department responded and declared the victim deceased at the scene. The identity of the victim is not being released pending the notification of her next of kin.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. At this time, detectives believe that the victim had attended a house party earlier in the night where a disturbance had occurred. The victim went over to a friend's house, shortly thereafter, subjects were heard outside followed by the sound of gun shots. No suspect information is being released at this time.
