The Sacramento Police Department has arrested three subjects responsible for the murder of 19-year-old Perell Waters.
On December 15, 2009, at 9:55 p.m., the Police Department responded to the 1900 block of San Juan Road on the report of someone possibly shot. Upon arrival, officers located Perell Waters suffering from gunshot wounds. Waters was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Based on their investigation, it is believed that Waters and a friend were about to leave the apartment parking lot when three suspects approached on foot and began shooting into the vehicle. Waters was shot while in the driver's seat of his car. Water's friend was able to get away on foot without being harmed. It is believed that the suspects committed the murder as part of an ongoing gang dispute.
On January 7, 2010, Detectives arrested 20-year-old Marcus Scott, 19-year-old Ron Grant, and 20-year-old Jumal Gray for murder.
