Murder suspect, 37-year-old Ricky Van Tran, was arrested for two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder after being on the run for 18 years.
Investigators believe that on October 25, 1991, at 11:41 p.m., Ricky Tran arrived at the Craven Club located on Stockton Boulevard and shot 23-year-old Quon Tran in the neck, 23-year-old Huy Nguyen in the back and 20-year-old Long Nguyen in the left ankle. Both Quon Tran and Huy Nguyen died after being transported to the hospital. The investigation revealed that the motivation for the shooting resulted from gang involvement. Ricky Tran was identified as the shooter early on in the investigation. Attempts to locate Tran had failed for the last 18 years.
On January 19, 2010, Ricky Tran was arrested in Cheltenham Township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Officers responded and contacted the suspect during an assault call. Tran was taken into custody without incident.
Tran is expected to be extradited back to Sacramento, California sometime next week.
