The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 51-year-old Silvio Perea for involuntary manslaughter. This investigation initially began as a burglary. Further investigation determined it to be a homicide.
On January 27, 2010, at 1:03 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 900 block of Eleanor Avenue regarding a burglary, where the resident claimed to have gotten into a physical confrontation with an unknown burglar. The suspected burglar was located and transported to an area hospital with severe head trauma. On February 3, 2010, the victim (suspected burglar) died as a result of his injuries from the assault.
This case was assigned to the Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Unit. Detectives reviewed the evidence initially gathered and identified inconsistencies in Perea's statement. Based on that, detectives determined that Perea and the victim actually knew each other. The victim and Perea had a dispute on January 27, 2010, which escalated to a physical assault. Perea beat the victim causing severe head injuries.
The victim has been identified as 60-year-old Steve Lee, a Sacramento resident.
On February 4, 2010, detectives arrested Silvio Perea and booked him into the Sacramento County Jail.
