Motorcycle Gang Targeted in Sweep

The Sacramento Police Department partnered with seventeen agencies as part of "Operation Everywhere." The target of the sweep was an outlaw motorcycle gang known as the Vagos.

On March 17, 2010, sixteen law enforcement agencies partnered in the Sacramento region in a coordinated effort to assist the Riverside County Gang Task Force in a suppression operation of this notorious gang.

Officers responded to eighteen locations throughout the region, ultimately arresting six Vagos associates for gun charges, stolen property, narcotics, counterfeit money, and warrants.

The Vagos evolved from a small motorcycle club in the late 1960's called the Psychos, who soon began calling themselves Los Vagos.  By the early 1970's they were primarily concentrated in San Bernadino County and changed their name to the "Vagos".   The Vagos outlaw motorcycle gang has now established itself throughout the western part of the United States and is attempting to expand their influence in other regions.  In the Sacramento area, the Vagos has the largest membership for an outlaw motorcycle gang with over 50 members.

The Sacramento Police Department would like to thank the following agencies for their partnership in this enforcement effort: Sacramento County Probation Department, Sacramento Sheriff's Department, Roseville PD, Folsom PD, Citrus Heights PD,  Placer County Sheriff's Department, Tracy PD, Galt PD, Grass Valley PD, Federal Bureau of Investigation, California Highway Patrol, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Parole and Special Services Unit, San Joaquin District Attorney's Office.
