The Sacramento Police Department has arrested two suspects for photographing and videotaping minors who were posed in a sexual manner.
On February 4, 2010, at 11:47 p.m., the Police Department received a call of a 13-year-old female who was missing. Through this missing person's investigation, detectives discovered that 35-year-old Michael Gilles had befriended and enticed the missing juvenile, and at least two other female juveniles, into allowing themselves to be photographed or videotaped while posing unclothed or in a sexual manner.
On February 6, 2010, Gilles and the juvenile victims were located near the 600 block of El Camino Avenue. Inside the residence, detectives located nude photographs of juveniles, cocaine, and ecstasy pills. Gilles was arrested that day for committing lewd or lascivious acts with a minor, furnishing narcotics to a minor, and possession of narcotics for sale. In the course of the investigation, detectives found that on a few occasions, a male identified as 21-year-old Joseph Tien assisted Gilles in the photographing of minors and annoying or molesting a child. On March 25, 2010, Tien was arrested for these crimes. The investigation also revealed that an additional 15-year-old female victim had been used to befriend the younger girls and lure them into these activities at the direction of the suspects.
The Police Department would like to remind parents to always be aware of what their children are doing online and who they are associating with. This is just one example of the many predators that are out there looking for ways to victimize your child.
