The Sacramento Police Department has arrested two additional suspects responsible for a home invasion and the murder of 26-year-old Salvador Heredia-Arriaga.
On March 26, 2010, at 11:19 p.m., officers responded to the 2600 block of River Plaza Drive on a report of a person who had been shot. Officers arrived and found Heredia-Arriaga with a gunshot wound. The Sacramento Fire Department arrived and declared the victim deceased at the scene.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded. Based on the investigation, detectives believe that two armed suspects entered the residence to commit a home invasion. The suspects are believed to have targeted this residence due to ongoing sales of marijuana from the location. During the home invasion, Heredia-Arriaga arrived at the apartment to visit friends. Heredia-Arriaga was shot and killed when he unintentionally interrupted the home invasion.
Based on forensic evidence and information obtained during the investigation, detectives believe that 20-year-old Maurice Reed Jr. and a 17-year-old male were responsible for the murder. They were arrested on April 21, 2010.
Further investigation led to the identification of 22-year-old Tamika Reed, as the driver of the vehicle used during the commission of the robbery-murder and 23-year-old Kenneth Owens, as the person who coordinated the home invasion.
