Arrest Made in Weekend Murder

The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 35-year old Carlton Reid for shooting and killing 39-year-old Gregory Lewis.

On June 5, 2010, at 1:40 a.m., officers received a call of gun shots heard near Northgate Boulevard and West El Camino Avenue.  Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene.  Based on the investigation, detectives believe Lewis drove to the convenience store parking lot with another person.  As they were sitting in their car, a male approached.  The victim and the male suspect had a conversation. The suspect then shot the victim.

Detectives received information that led to the identity of Carlton Reid as being a possible suspect in the murder.  Detectives believe that Reid and Lewis were known to each other and that the murder was narcotic related.  On June 7, 2010, at 6:30 p.m., the Career Criminal Apprehension Team (CCAT) located Reid near 16th and P Street.  Reid was taken into custody without incident for murder.
