On Tuesday, August 3, 2010, residents throughout Sacramento will join neighborhoods across the nation to celebrate the 27th Annual National Night Out.
Ninety neighborhoods throughout the City of Sacramento are planning events such as block parties, BBQs, ice cream socials, flashlight parades, and other social activities. These events allow neighbors to get to know one another, so that together, they can fight to keep crime out of their neighborhoods. The Mayor, City Manager, Police Chief, Sacramento Police Officers, and other City representatives, will be out visiting these neighborhood celebrations as a show of support for their efforts.
National Night Out is an event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime fighting efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and illegal activity will not be tolerated.
