The Sacramento Police Department wants to remind everyone to have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend. The City of Sacramento is a great place to celebrate this holiday and as such, there are several special events planned for this weekend. These special events may impact traffic on city streets, especially downtown.
Below is a list of events and their potential impact on city streets.

Gold Rush Days Sept. 3 - 6 Old Sacramento
All streets in Old Sacramento will be closed for the duration of this event.
Sacramento Day of Prayer Sept. 4 Capitol Mall
Capitol Mall between 3rd Street and 10th Street will be completely closed during this event.
Chalk it Up Sept. 4 - 6 Fremont Park (1515 Q Street)
There are no street closures planned for this event.
Private Wedding Sept. 5 Sheraton Grand Hotel (1230 J Street)
Traffic controls will be in effect from 1:45 p.m., to 2:30 p.m., in the areas of J Street/I Street, between 11th Street and 13th Street.
Rainbow Festival Sept. 5 20th Street between J and L Street
A block party is scheduled for this event, 20th Street between L Street and J Street will be closed. K Street between 20th and 21st Street will also be closed during this event.
Tejano Conjunto Festival Sept. 5 Cesar Chavez Park (9th Street/I Street)
Labor Day Picnic/Run for Democracy Sept. 6 William Land Park
There will be a 5K run/walk in the morning with temporary street closures around Land Park. The temporary closures will be in effect only for the duration of the 5K run/walk.
Remember to plan accordingly in order to avoid heavy traffic and reach your destination on time.
