The Sacramento Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that left three shot and one deceased.
On September 12, 2010, at 12:13 a.m., Sacramento Police officers were patrolling on J near 18th Street as hundreds of young adults were loitering in the area. Officers heard numerous gun shots but could not see the suspect (s) due to the large crowd size. As the crowd began to disperse, officers found four victims on J between 18 and 19th Streets. Three victims were transported to area hospitals and are expected to survive their injuries. The victims are described as a male Hispanic, a male Black, and a female White in their 20's. The fourth victim died at the scene and is being identified as a male Hispanic in his 20's.
Homicide and Crime Scene Investigators responded. At this time, investigators are trying to determine the suspect (s) description and a motive for the shooting. Detectives are encouraging anyone that was in the area at the time of the shooting to contact the Police Department.
