Fight Leads to Stabbing

The Sacramento Police Department has determined that a late night stabbing was likely in self defense.

On September 15, 2010, at 8:19 p.m., officers responded to a person who had been stabbed in the 2200 block of Craig Avenue.  Officers found a 27-year-old male Hispanic on the street with a serious injury consistent with being stabbed.  The subject was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.  While officers were on Craig Avenue, police received a call advising an 18-year-old male Hispanic had also been stabbed.  The 18-year-old was located in the 2500 block of 69th Avenue with a laceration to his arm.  He was later transported to an area hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.

Homicide and Crime Scene Investigators responded.  Based on the investigation, detectives believe the 27-year-old had for unknown reasons started a fight with the 18-year-old.  During the fight, the 18-year-old had tried to get away without success and ultimately stabbed the 27-year-old in self defense.  At this time no criminal charges have been filed.
