The Sacramento Police Department arrested 33-year-old Arondrei Abel-Bey for the murder of his grandfather.
On January 18, 2011, at 6:13 a.m., officers responded to a house near 64th Avenue and Amherst Street on a possible burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers found an 83-year-old male inside the residence with stab wounds to his upper body. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Officers at the scene determined Arondrei, his girlfriend, their five children, and his grandfather lived at the house on 64th Avenue. Based on initial observations, officers did not believe that a burglary had occurred. Upon further investigation, detectives determined that Arondrei and his grandfather got into an argument. The dispute escalated when Arondrei assaulted and stabbed the victim.
