The Sacramento Police Department arrested 22-year-old Dion Johnson and 25-year-old Edward Broughton for two different two bank robberies where safety vests were worn by the suspects.   

On September 9, 2010, at 9:08 a.m., officers responded to the 3600 block of N. Freeway Blvd on a bank robbery.  Three suspects entered the bank one of the suspects held the employees at gun point while the other two stole money.  The suspects were described as male Blacks, in their 20's, wearing orange safety vests and dust masks to cover their mouth area. 

On November 4, 2010, at 9:15 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Howe Avenue on a bank robbery.  Two suspects entered the bank, hit an employee, and stole money before fleeing.  The suspects were described as male Blacks, in their 20's, wearing yellow neon safety vests and masks to cover their mouth area. No weapon was seen during the robbery.

In both robberies, witnesses were able to get partial license plate information on the suspect vehicles.  Detectives ran those partial plates and were able to determine possible suspect vehicles.  Detectives looked at associates to the registered owners of the suspect vehicles and located subjects who matched the suspect descriptions.  Based on the investigation, detectives were able to link Dion Johnson to the bank robbery on Howe Avenue and link his half brother Edward Broughton to the bank robbery on N. Freeway Boulevard.  Detectives are still investigating the robberies to determine who the suspect's accomplices were.
