Sacramento Police Partners with U.S. Marshals

The Sacramento Police Department partnered with the United States Marshal's Service to apprehend 39-year-old Vail Thomas who was wanted for narcotics trafficking between Alaska and California, and for a shooting in Sacramento.

On February 7, 2011, at approximately 8 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department's Career Criminal Apprehension Team partnered with the U.S. Marshal's Service and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's Fugitive Apprehension Team in tracking down a wanted fugitive.    The U.S. Marshal's Service was looking for Vail in connection with a drug trafficking case involving Oxycontin being moved between California and Alaska.  Vail was also wanted by the Sacramento Police Department for breaking into an apartment and shooting a victim that he had a fight with earlier in the night.

Through a collaborative effort, Vail was located driving near Greenback Lane and Auburn Boulevard.  Vail was taken into custody without incident and is being held on both federal and state charges.

"The United States Marshal's Service works closely with our local law enforcement partners to arrest those criminals on the run from justice," said Albert Najera U.S. Marshal of the Eastern District of California.  The Sacramento Police Department would like to thank the Marshal's Service for their continued partnership in our region.
