Surveillance Cameras Work

Surveillance footage provided vital information in identifying a burglary suspect caught on camera.

On December 20, 2010, at 1:00 p.m., the suspect was seen, on recorded video, leaving a home near Natomas Boulevard and Club Center Drive. The suspect knocked on the front door and when there was no answer, he forced entry from the rear of the house. The suspect fled when the house alarm was activated.

On December 29, 2010, a press release was generated using a photograph detectives had obtained from surveillance footage. Based on a community tip, the suspect was identified. The investigation revealed that he is potentially responsible for five Natomas burglaries.

On April 7, 2011, 23 year old, Raymond Newcomb, Jr., was arrested. Without surveillance footage, it is likely that these crimes would have gone unsolved and that this suspect would have gotten away with multiple burglaries.

It is extremely important, with these tough economic times and diminished resources, for residents to watch out for each other and their neighborhoods. Surveillance cameras are proving very beneficial combating these crimes and recording suspicious activity in your neighborhood.
