On Thursday, May 5, 2011, at 8:15 p.m., the victim was running in the area of Broadgate Way and Westlake Parkway. She saw the suspect playing basketball and then she saw him approach her. He knocked her to the ground and began choking her. The victim fought her attacker and she was able to get free. The suspect fled.

The suspect was described as a male Hispanic or Asian, dark skin, 5'6", wearing a black baseball cap, light colored shirt and dark colored baggy shorts.

The Police Department wants to remind residents to always be aware of your surroundings and watch for any suspicious persons or activity in your neighborhoods. Call the police if you see anyone who matches this description. Additionally, there is safety in numbers. Try to walk with friends rather than by yourself, especially at night.
