The Sacramento Police Department is releasing images of a unique suspect vehicle and a composite sketch of a possible suspect related to the murder of 53-year-old Balbir Dhami.
On Thursday, May 19, 2011, at 10:10 a.m., officers responded to the 7900 block of Marla Way on a shooting. Officers arrived and found a male, later identified as Balbir Dhami, deceased at the scene and a female in her 40's shot who was transported to the hospital and later survived her injuries.
The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Based on the investigation, detectives believe that a male suspect came to the victim's house and shot them just inside the front door. Detectives do not believe this was a random act, nor was it a hate crime.
The suspect was described as a male Black, short, thin build, short hair, wearing a yellow sweatshirt (see below composite sketch). The suspect vehicle, which was captured on video surveillance in the area, is believed to be a 1999-2003 4-door gold Mazda Protégé or 323 with a black hood, black front and rear bumpers.
