The Sacramento Police Department arrested 18-year-old Jose Valdovinos for the murder of a 35-year-old male.
On July 21, 2011, at 2:05 p.m., officers responded to 3500 block of High Street on a person that was shot. Simultaneously, two Twin Rivers Police officers were contacted by a witness regarding a shooting nearby. One Twin Rivers Police officer went to the scene and found a male who had been shot. The victim was transported to the hospital and later died. The other Twin Rivers Police officer observed a subject running from the area and stopped him. The subject stopped, later identified as Jose Valdovinos, was determined to be the suspect responsible for the murder.
Sacramento Police Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Based on the investigation, detectives believe that the victim and Jose Valdovinos went to conduct a drug transaction on High Street. At some point after the drug transaction, Valdovinos shot the victim. Detectives have not determined what motivated Valdovinos to shoot and kill the victim.
