On Tuesday, August 2, 2011, residents throughout Sacramento will join neighborhoods across the nation to celebrate the 28th Annual National Night Out.
Over 50 neighborhoods throughout the City of Sacramento are planning events such as block parties, BBQs, ice cream socials, flashlight parades, and other social activities. These events allow neighbors to get to know one another, so that together, they can fight to keep crime out of their neighborhoods. The Mayor, Police Chief, Sacramento Police Officers, and other City representatives, will be out visiting these neighborhood celebrations as a show of support for their efforts.
National Night Out is an event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime fighting efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and illegal activity will not be tolerated. To sign your neighborhood up for National Night Out go to http://www.sacpd.org/pdf/events/2011_nno.pdf or www.sacpd.org and click on "National Night Out."
The Sacramento Police Department is solving crimes and arresting criminals based on the active participation of neighbors. We encourage neighbors to get to know one other, call in suspicious subjects and/or activity, and stay informed on what is happening in your community. To keep informed on criminal activity in your neighborhood the Sacramento Police Department offers the following:
