The Sacramento Police Department arrested 21-year-old Nicholas Larson for tagging numerous locations in midtown Sacramento.
Over the course of the last couple of years, Sacramento City Code Enforcement, Sacramento Police Department, and the Sacramento County District Attorney's Community Prosecutor worked to identify a prolific tagger in the midtown area that used the moniker "Reid" and "Reidel." The suspect was believed to be responsible for over 100 vandalisms of walls, signs, sidewalks and dumpsters.
Officers were able to develop information that led to the identity of the tagger as Nicholas Larson. On Thursday, July 28, 2011, officers conducted a search warrant on Larson in the 6000 block of 1st Avenue. The search led to the discovery of graffiti tools, prescription pills and marijuana for sale. Larson was arrested without incident.
Each year, vandalism such as tagging costs the City of Sacramento and private parties thousands of dollars to clean. Thanks to the efforts of those involved one less tagger will be causing blight and damage to property.
