The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the shooting of 23-year-old Raymond Johnson who died eight days after being shot.
On July 30, 2011, at 12:44 a.m., officers responded to a person shot in the 5700 block of Mack Road. Upon arrival, officers found Raymond Johnson suffering from critical gunshot wounds. Johnson was transported to the hospital.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Based on the investigation thus far, detectives believe that Raymond Johnson was at the apartment to commit a home invasion, armed with a knife, and wearing a mask. The resident shot Johnson as he forced his way into the apartment.
On August 7, 2011, Johnson died from his injuries. Detectives are still investigating the circumstances that led up to the incident.
