Start Smart Driving Course

The Sacramento Police Department is offering a free educational class to teenage drivers and their parent or guardian on driver safety.

New drivers lack the experience that is sometimes needed in various driving situations. Teen drivers are found to be at fault in 66% of all fatal accidents they are involved in. In contrast, they represent only 4% of the state's licensed drivers. The leading cause of death for all Americans 15 - 20 years old is motor vehicle collisions.

The class is free, open to teenagers, 15-19 years old, and they are required to bring a parent or guardian. This class is being offered in an effort to keep new drivers, and their passengers, safe on the road. The next class will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2011, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Classes are held at the Central Command Station of the Sacramento Police Department, located at 300 Richards Blvd., Second Floor.

Space is limited, so register now by calling (916) 808-6126.
