The Sacramento Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting.
On September 15, 2011, at 00:04 a.m., officers arrived on scene of a call near Ford Road and Western Avenue, where a male had been shot. Medical personnel quickly arrived and transported the victim to the hospital with critical injuries.
The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to the scene. At this time, detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting. Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that the victim was a passenger in a vehicle. As they were driving on Butterworth Avenue, near Gillespie Street, shots were fired and the passenger, a 20-year-old male, was hit. The driver of the vehicle returned to a residence on Ford, where they called police and medical personnel.
At this time, no motive for the shooting has been established, nor is there suspect information.
