The Sacramento Police Department has arrested Chema Strawther for the murder of 37-year-old Ahmed Ishaque.
On Saturday, September 17, 2011, at 6:05 a.m., officers were called to the area of Northgate Boulevard and Highway 160 where a male appeared to need medical attention. Both police and medical personnel arrived and found that he had been shot. Medics transported Ishaque to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Detectives believe that Strawther shot Ishaque and then drove Ishaque's car, a silver 1990 Chevy Lumina pictured below, to the Water Treatment Inlet located at 502 Jibboom Street. Strawther possibly arrived around 5:20 a.m. and encountered a man and his elementary school-aged son, when he parked the car. The unsuspecting man and his son parked their dark-colored Chevy Tahoe type vehicle north, or on the driver's side, of Ishaque's car. They spoke with Strawther prior to getting in their car and leaving the area. Detectives would like to talk with the man and are asking him to contact us.
On Monday, September 19, 2011, at 5:40 p.m., officers responded to the 2600 block of Truxel Road in an effort to locate and arrest Chema Strawther, 30. The department's Career Criminal Apprehension Team found him inside the residence and he was taken into custody without incident. Due to the ongoing investigation, his booking photograph is not available.
