The Sacramento Police Department has arrested Augustine Aranda, for the murder of Mark Colquitt.
On March 8, 2011, at approximately 5:45 a.m., officers responded to reports of gun shots near 21st Avenue and Franklin Boulevard. Officers arrived finding 48-year-old Mark Colquitt shot. He was transported to an area hospital and later died from his injuries.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Detectives received information that led to the identification of 28-year-old Augustine Aranda as the suspect in this murder.
Believing that Aranda was still in the Sacramento area, detectives issued another press release seeking to obtain information about Aranda's whereabouts. As a result of that press release and working with agents from the California Department of Justice, Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, Aranda was located. Officers found him living in El Centro, CA under an assumed name, with a female who was unaware of his true identity or what he was wanted for. The California Department of Justice, Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement was instrumental in arresting this dangerous criminal.
