The Sacramento Police Department has arrested Steven Trotter, 27, for copper thefts.
On Wednesday, November 30, 2011, 6:41 a.m., officers responded to the 3500 block of Auburn Boulevard on an alarm activation. Upon arrival, they discovered a burglary had occurred with the suspect gone. However, the suspect left behind his backpack. Officers were able to identify the suspect as Trotter and contacted him at his residence where they found additional tools used in the removal and stripping of wire. Trotter was arrested without incident.
The community is asked to watch for suspicious activity near street lights and intersections. If you see anyone working on the wire of street lights or traffic signals and a City vehicle is not present, call the police. Obtain as much information about the suspects and their vehicles as possible and provide that to the dispatcher.
We can combat copper thefts, and all crimes, more effectively with help from the community. A local resident photographed suspicious activity and provided the department with the attached pictures. The police department would like to speak with the individuals depicted and they are encouraged to call in.
