The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 25-year-old male.

On Sunday, December 4, 2011, 7:01 p.m., officers responded to the 2300 block of Oakmont on a report of a male who had been shot. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the upper body.

The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to the scene. Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the homicide. At this time, the motive for this shooting is unknown.
