The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 36-year-old male.
On Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 12:11 a.m., officers responded to the 3900 block of Samos Way on a report of a male who had been shot. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the upper body while sitting inside a car.
Moments prior to receiving the call, officers observed a reckless vehicle within close proximity of Samos Way. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to yield, resulting in a short pursuit. Several blocks later, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. A perimeter was quickly established and the suspect was later found hiding in a yard. Due to the close proximity of both incidents, police believe the driver may be related to the shooting.
The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the homicide. At this time, the motive for this shooting is unknown.
