The Sacramento Police Department has arrested a 17-year-old for the murder of 51-year-old Kevin Burks.
On Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at 11:18 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Decathlon Circle on a call of a male who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered Burks, who was declared deceased at the scene.
The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to the scene. At this time, detectives believe that Burks was driving in the area and stopped in front of a nearby residence. For unknown reasons, the suspect fired several times into Burks' vehicle in an unprovoked manner. Burks was struck by one of the rounds and died at the scene. The motive for this crime is still under investigation and the booking photograph is not available due to the suspect's age and the on-going investigation.
