The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 33-year-old Daniel Hegwood for robbery.
On February 4, 2012, at 1:15 p.m. Hegwood entered the Wells Fargo Bank in the 3000 block of Capitol Avenue wielding a fast food bag. He approached a teller advising he had a bomb, and demanded money. Hegwood fled on foot with a substantial amount of cash leaving the bag behind.
Officers located Hegwood as he entered a nearby parking garage. As the officers attempted to take him into custody he physically resisted and advised that he had an explosive device in his backpack.
Sacramento Police Department bomb technicians were called and determined that neither the backpack nor the bag contained explosives. Inside the backpack was cash and personal items belonging to Hegwood. Inside the fast food bag were two apple pies.
