The Sacramento Police Department will be conducting DUI enforcement operations over the St Patrick's Day Weekend.
On Friday, March 16, officers will patrol areas within the city limits looking for impaired drivers. It will begin at 8:00 p.m. and run until 3 a.m. On Saturday, March 17, the Sacramento Police Department will be hosting a regional DUI enforcement operation as part of the "Avoid the Capitol 17" DUI campaign. Officers from several local police departments will patrol areas within the city limits looking for impaired drivers. It will begin at 7:00 p.m. and run until 3 a.m. Both operations will occur regardless of the weather conditions.
Remember, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Report Drunk Drivers. Call 911.
In 2010, over 10,000 people were killed nationally in motor vehicle traffic crashes that involved at least one driver or motorcycle rider with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08% or higher. In California, this deadly crime led to 791 deaths because someone failed to designate a sober driver.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
