The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a female, Black, in her late 20s.
On March 18, 2012, at 12:10 a.m., police responded to the 1600 block of Meadowview Road regarding a shooting at a home. Upon arrival, police located two victims who had suffered gunshot wounds. A female black in her late 20s was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim, a male, Black in his early 20s was shot in the lower body with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was known to the victims and a description of him and his vehicle were provided to police. Several minutes later the suspect was located driving just outside of the city limits in Elk Grove. Officers from both the Sacramento Police Department and the Elk Grove Police Department stopped the vehicle at Franklin Boulevard and Sims Road. Before officers approached, the suspect fatally shot himself while seated inside his car.
The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to investigate. It was later determined that the victims were in a dating relationship and the suspect was the female's estranged husband.
